New Joys

Maybe this rejection was really a protection of new joys that may never have been if they’d stayed. Lysa TerKeurst posted those words on her Instagram account recently and they stopped my scroll.

It’s so easy to want life to be easy. It’s so easy to think others have it easier than we do. It’s so easy to think life is happening to you instead of for you.

I started to think of all the new joys that may never have been. And there are so many. I’m not the same girl I was 10 years ago when he told me hadn’t loved me in 10 years. And had he not said those words to me I would have missed out on so much.

That pain you’re feeling. That rejection. It might be necessary in order for you to really find and feel joy.
